Happy New Year!

Hey guys!

Welcome to a new year, 2016!

I hope you had an amazing start to the new year. I for one, enjoyed having a little bit of down time for myself, meeting old friends after (almost) an year and binge watching television.

Over the past few days, I have become a huge fan of the television series Sherlock, and I can’t wait to watch season 4 (soon please!). I also watched the movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ which is a gorgeous movie and I definitely recommend it!

Most people keep resolutions for themselves as the new year begins. Despite the fact that I don’t really have a resolution, I do want to say that I’d like to live every day of this year in such a way that I always have a smile on my face. No regrets. 🙂

As far as the blog is concerned, I decided to write down quotes in my diary everyday and at the end of each week/month (still deciding), I’ll share with you these quotes. It’s an interesting way to make sure that I’m blogging, and also to keep myself motivated. I hope that the quotes I choose also motivate you guys.

Cheers for a great year ahead!

Just A Little Catch-up!

Hello everyone!

I am so happy that so many of you guys follow my blog and enjoy my writing. It always makes me excited when I start writing a new post. I decided I just wanted to stop by today and talk to you for a little bit about what all I have been upto.

Recently, I went to watch ‘Queen’ with my friends. It was such a fun experience. The movie was beautiful and it was about finding yourselfself, and the road to self discovery. I think I also fell in love with Mish Boyko by the end of the movie. I recommend all you guys to watch it (I would recommend some sort of age bar though…. younger children won’t be able to understand the movie). The cinematography is amazing and it is one of those Bollywood movies that has a beautiful script. I will do a movie review kind of a post soon to talk about ‘Queen’.

Also my heartiest congratulations to Tom and Giovanna Fletcher on the birth of their son Buzz Michaelangelo Fletcher! The family has another rock star now!

I have been doing lots of DIY** stuff recently. You may be able to see some of it in L4W* DIY week’s post. I have made flowers, bracelet, bookmark and a lamp in the past week. That has been lots of fun!

I hope you like this chatty little post!

See you next time,
Srish. Xx

A Man, A Tiger and A Boat

Some movies are made to watch once,  and others, we watch again and again. Everyone has a different reason to watch these works of art over and over again. One might like the actors, the story, the fantasy or the fiction. Some, like me, may like the truth and the message that lies beyond the works.

ImageI saw Life of Pi, for the second time today. I did not particularly watch it for Suraj Sharma, the tiger, or the story. I saw it to bring back my faith in Myself. Over the past few months, I felt like I was missing a part of me. There is too much competition in this world, too much pressure to study and keep up. I had lost that ray of hope, and I did want it back.

Unintentionally, I ended up watching Life Of Pi, and it had one repeated message “Above all, don’t lose hope“.

The movie when watched the first time, gave me the same message, but back then, I could not understand the deeper meaning of it. This beautiful journey of a man, a tiger and a boat tells us that we are all a small part of this huge world. And if we keep faith, no matter how bad a turmoil we are stuck in, the power up there, guiding us, will help us on our way. When we give our 100% and surrender the rest to Him above, then even when we will find obstacles on our way, we would know how to survive.

We do not have much experience of the world, we haven’t seen or experienced what is out there. It is time that we open up our wings and seize the opportunities that come our way.

I would leave you all with a poem that I wrote on my main blog : http://srishtibirla.wordpress.com/2012/11/26/the-art-of-letting-go/

Okay Guys! Let me know what you thought about the movie in the comments below!
