University Hacks!

Hey you guys!

I have been MIA for a few weeks now and I apologize for the same. University has started and any time I get off of ‘uni life’ is spent either eating or sleeping. But don’t worry, I promise to keep you amazing people updated at all times.

So today, I would like to share with some ‘University Hacks’ which I hope will help you stay on top of everything. These are methods that I have devised to not miss classes, and to also be able to take part in every party, meeting or orientation session at university. I have also included lots of University advise for freshers. I hope that these tips help all you incoming freshmen have a fantastic start in your respective universities!

  • Pick random roommates. My university did not have the option to pick and chose your own roommates, and believe me random roommates is the best way to go. You get to meet new people and make new friends. Who knows, your roommate may be your future best friend!
  • Invest in a pair of flip flops or slippers. And when you have those flip flops, always wear them while taking a bath. You have no idea who has been there, and believe me, hostel washroom floors are messy.
  • Be early to your classes. Atleast for the first month. It gives a good impression to your professor/instructor.
  • This point resonates with the last point I made, but please don’t skip your classes. Make sure you attend your lectures. College or University gives you a freeway to skip class, but if you want to fulfill the purpose of higher education, everything that you will get in quizzes and exams, will be from those lectures.
  • Make friends. This is quiet self explanatory, but university is a time when you can meet new people and reinvent yourself. It is not like school where everyone has a predefined notion of who you are, this is new, this is different! πŸ™‚
  • If you do not find roommates that share a common interest with you, don’t change your room within the first month. Stay there, and try to maintain a civil and hostile relationship with your roommate. They may end up being compatible roommates.
  • Carry a daily/weekly and monthly planner. It will help keep all your appointments in schedule and you will be more organized with everything.
  • Always read your time table the night before. My friends missed two of their classes just because they forgot to read the time table correctly. Make sure you go through your time table the night before and early in the morning.
  • This is more towards the hygienic side, but take a bath everyday. Please!
  • You will have the first week of university as fresher’s week. Make the most of it. You will meet new, different people. There will be orientation sessions so you can ask queries during that time period. You will also have DJ nights and parties in your campus (yes, most of these are official), attend them. Attend that dance party even if you can’t dance. But please note, this point is just for the first week of university.
  • Join clubs. If you can’t join lots of clubs, atleast join one club. These college societies are a brilliant way to help you de-stress, meet new people, and share your ideas. Something similar is taking part in open events conducted by the various societies. There are free events for which you can register and have a fun time. You can register for something like that when you know you have a free time slot.
  • The last point, and one of the most important points is to have fun, accomplish what you are there for and keep yourself busy. Have healthy food (because food in University is known for the ‘freshmen15’).

Guys I hope you liked this advice post! If you have any more advise for freshers leave it in the comments down below, and if you are a fresher, let me know if this helped you out! πŸ˜€

See you next time,

We Love You Connor

“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” -Gail Sheehy

Hey guys!

On Monday morning, I woke up looking forward to a new O2L video. It has become a tradition of mine. Watching the videos early in the morning makes my day, especially because they are always happy and energetic! It makes me feel that if they depict those five minutes so energetically, I can try and make my own life less boring.

It was a shock this morning when I woke up to the news of Connor Franta quitting O2L. However, he left the collaboration project on a positive note. Stating that the boys are his family and would always be. He also sent forth a beautiful message. He said that he was doing this for himself, and that what is his passion had now started seeming like a job. I completely agree with his words. It takes courage to admit what he did and I wish him all the best! You would still be our Frantastic Monday Connor!

He taught me a very important lesson as well. We do so many things for so many people in our lives, but in that whole process, somewhere we forget to live for ourselves. We areΒ our best friends and it is only us who can make us happy. So Connor, I support your decision and will continue to stalk you on twitter πŸ˜› and wish you all the love for a new chapter in life! Looking forward to seeing you with bigger and beautiful creative outlets! πŸ˜€

Always Frantastic :’)

Journey

This is probably one of the best poems I have ever written, and it recently got published in a magazine!!! I hope you like it πŸ˜€

Srishti

A new silence has been found
with that, comes a new sound
Dawned upon you is the life of possibility
and the world is not short of amiability
We all are rocking in the same boat
trying hard to stay afloat
But this journey can be fun
when you let yourself shine
under the golden Sun
Leaving footprints in the sand
walking together hand in hand
There is not a doubt
of rain from this glistening cloud
And when it pours
we will always find an open door
A helping hand to get us through
make us better and brand new
We must learn to return the favour
by passing it to another who needs to add flavour
In our lives we must learn
that giving can also be fun
It is when we give from our heart
can we instill a beautiful fresh start
For you and for me

My Clumsy Story

Hello everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you a series of clumsy experiences that happened to me within the span of a day. Probably not my best day, but hilarious in retrospect nonetheless. I hope you can relate πŸ˜›
So I woke up nice and early and got ready in jeans and a t-shirt for an exam that I had the following hour. I decided to wear my sport shoes, except, I forgot that their soles are slippery. Anyways, I went to the exam centre, everything was going fine until I realised that I had forgotten my mobile phone at home and I wouldn’t be able to contact anyone in case of emergencies. Also, another thing to note is that I had no money on me as well!

Nevermind, the exam was going to start in 5 minutes and while entering, I slipped. And not just normally like one would on a floor either. I slipped the whole way through a flight of stairs! It’s safe to say I can’t sit anymore (don’t worry, it’s healing). Then, for the next three hours I had to sit on this wooden bench while my bottom was hurting. It wasn’t exactly a good experience.

Nothing else eventful happened until evening. I had to go out for a fancy meal with my family and I decided to iron my dress. And, it was my favourite dress (I had just worn it once before). And surprise surprise, guess what I managed to do? I burnt a hole through the middle of it. It’s safe to say I want to steer clear of iron and heat related objects now. If this wasn’t enough, I went to the dinner, and managed to embarrass myself in a very serious conversation I was trying to have.

And now skipping to today morning. Since morning, I have burnt my foot by spilling boiled water on it (it’s minor) and have by mistake ‘unplugged’ the computer twice. I hope no more clumsy mistakes follow! πŸ˜›

I hope you have a great (non slippery) week ahead and I will see you next time! πŸ˜€

I said (short poem)

When you say things, and when you hear them back, you realise that some when said were not what were meant at the time. And others, mean even more, despite being unsaid…

I said I went overboard
It seemed like a good decision at the time
My fleeting heart roared
But that decision costed me a dime

I said I was too serious
I thought it was just me at the time
But there were a million more
That did not fit this perfect rhyme.

I said I was sorry
That my heart could not be blamed
I fell too deep in love
The love that couldn’t be tamed.

I said now let me go
But you stood there, in the way
Then you should have said what you had to say
Instead, you ran away.

I hope you liked it and I will see you next time! πŸ™‚

Moving On; A Poem

A new poem on my ‘writings’ blog! Check it out πŸ˜€

Srishti

A self composed poem about moving on while that clock of life ticks. Cherishing the new in life and letting those frozen tears slide away πŸ™‚

Seemingly lost,
the years have found their way,
into the heart of the one you left,
and now no one has a say.

The careless whispers have faded
Stevie sung the right words.
This year, my heart will reside
at a better brighter place.

Like the soft smooth petals
of a small rose flower
This year, my lips will part,
but this time, it’ll be for someone special.

My heart will beat again,
the tears will fade away.
And with euphoria alive again,
new music will again make me sway.

I hope you liked it!
See you soon,
Srish. Xx

Just A Little Catch-up!

Hello everyone!

I am so happy that so many of you guys follow my blog and enjoy my writing. It always makes me excited when I start writing a new post. I decided I just wanted to stop by today and talk to you for a little bit about what all I have been upto.

Queen

Recently, I went to watch ‘Queen’ with my friends. It was such a fun experience. The movie was beautiful and it was about finding yourselfself, and the road to self discovery. I think I also fell in love with Mish Boyko by the end of the movie. I recommend all you guys to watch it (I would recommend some sort of age bar though…. younger children won’t be able to understand the movie). The cinematography is amazing and it is one of those Bollywood movies that has a beautiful script. I will do a movie review kind of a post soon to talk about ‘Queen’.

Also my heartiest congratulations to Tom and Giovanna Fletcher on the birth of their son Buzz Michaelangelo Fletcher! The family has another rock star now!

I have been doing lots of DIY** stuff recently. You may be able to see some of it in L4W* DIY week’s post. I have made flowers, bracelet, bookmark and a lamp in the past week. That has been lots of fun!

I hope you like this chatty little post!

See you next time,
Srish. Xx
